Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique, (EFT), is a form of "emotional acupressure".
Dr. Roger Callahan, Clinical Psychologist, is credited with the pioneer work
which led to this tapping process. Tapping with a finger on specific
acupuncture/acupressure points, while focusing one's attention on a problem,
removes the emotional component.
One of Dr. Callahan's early students, Gary Craig, decided to explore
possibilities of simplifying the procedure. Having an engineering
background, Gary's mind set was to streamline the procedure, yet still
retain the results achieved by the original process. From this, EFT was
born.
EFT works by removing the emotional component from a memory, event
circumstance or situation. Negative emotions are a disruption in the body's
energy circuits. Using this technique removes distress within your body.
Doing so can have profound and pleasant effects on attitude, perception,
relationships and even on health.
Since the brain/body's ability to cope is now compromised, the application
of EFT resets the circuit to make the necessary repairs. Once this is done
one can begin to think more resourcefully and effectively. Please remember
80% of all psychotherapeutic interventions are about resolving the negative
emotional component.
Paula has used this technique in her practice with great success. Some of
the issues which have shown positive response include Fears and Phobias,
Traumatic Memories, Addictions, Panic Attacks/Depression, Weight Loss,
Physical Healing, and Poor Self Image. The possibilities are endless!
