October 15, 2011 Stepping in Dogma

My friend Sharon Pacione has done it again! She writes the most amazing poetry and essays. This most recent one really resonated with me. She echoes so many of my own thoughts and beliefs. Hope she hits a chord with you as well. Enjoy!

May 26, 2006 - Danger: Hidden Sources of MSG

"A label that says 'No MSG added' doesn't necessarily mean that the food is free of MSG, ..."

This quote from the NaturoDoc web site should raise a BIG red flag. Consider this a must read.

April 29, 2005 - Morning Prayer of Gratitude Before Opening My Eyes to the Outer World

I am fortunate to know Sharon Pacione. She is passionate about many issues and shares her insight and opinions with many people. I think of her as a beacon, someone who shines light on many topics for the pure sake of wanting to keep people informed. She is also a very talented writer. She recently wrote this prayer and sent it to me and everyone on her email list. Her words touched my heart, so much so that I printed this and start my day with this prayer many mornings. I asked her if I could put it on my website so that all of you who visit Transitions would have the opportunity to read and enjoy this work. Thanks, Sharon!

February 6, 2005 - Bowersox Protocol for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue

I have also suffered from Fibromyalgia over the years. I want to share some information with you about a wonderful doctor named Harold J. Bowersox.

January 30, 2005 - A Story & Photo you will not believe!

As a labor and birth doula, I am blessed and honored to see the mystery and majesty of a human being coming into this world. Just a couple of months ago I attended the birth of triplets. It was an awesome experience.

This message and photo was sent to me recently and it had a profound impact. If ever anyone doubted that a "fetus" is a human being, this photo should clarify such questions. I wanted to share this with you all...."Food for thought".....Love, Paula

January 25, 2005 - Benefits of Rebounding

Several years ago, I heard about the benefits of rebounding and purchased mini-trampolines for each of my children and one for us. I was astounded by all of the positive results from this simple activity. During my elementary school years, all of the girls at St. Philomena School carried our jumpropes with us each day. We spent our recess period jumping rope just for the joy of it. Little did we know that we were keeping our bodies in shape at the same time. Rebounding is similar but much easier on the joints than jumping on hard concrete. These mini trampolines are inexpensive yet, as you will read, quite effective on many levels. My younger daughter puts her favorite CDs into her portable player, pops on her headphones and jumps for a good hour. She is in perfect health! I wanted to share this information and hope that you will consider this fun and healthy activity. Start the New Year out right by Jumping for Joy!!

As with all exercise programs, please check with your doctor before starting!

January 20, 2005 - You Are A Miracle

Each time I see and hear this, I feel a powerful sense that I am a part of a much bigger plan. I feel loved, special, and protected. I hope you get the same feeling....Blessings, Paula

You Are A Miracle Flash Movie by Terri McPherson

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I first posted this on MLK Day in 2005. So many people enjoyed it and asked that I put it up every January. However, I decided to keep it up year round for folks who may be visiting my site for the first time. This essay was written by my daughter, Jennifer. While a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University, Jenni entered an essay contest which was being sponsored by Case. The topic was Martin Luther King, Jr. Her entry won first place. Although this essay was written years ago, the message is as relevant today as it was in 1999.

Jennifer is now a Communications Specialist and also enjoys working as a freelance writer and editor.

January 15, 2005 - Three Types of Fools

When I first read this thought provoking piece, it really hit home. I was able to identify with all three types of fools, especially the last one. It is amazing to me how I have searched and read and studied in my eagerness to find healing of body, mind and spirit. The more I read, the more I want to read. Yet now I have come to learn that the knowledge I have hungered for all these years has been within me all along! Maybe the words will resonate with you as well.
